課程概述 |
社會建構論的宣稱如今已非常廣泛地出現在人文與社會科學當中。許多東西都被宣稱是由社會所建構的，如性別、種族、失能、精神障礙、情緒及科學。除此之外，社會建構論也總是被視作是反對某種決定論或本質主義的立場。然而，關於什麼是社會建構以及社會建構論宣稱的意義仍然是充滿爭議並且不清的問題。在此門課程，我們將會考慮不同哲學家關於社會建構的想法，並嘗試回應上述所提到的兩個問題。
The social constructionist claims (e.g. “X is socially constructed,” etc.) have been pervasive among humanities and social sciences. Many things have been claimed to be socially constructed, e.g., gender, race, disability, mental disorder, emotion, and science. Social constructionism is usually taken as an opponent to some kind of determinism or essentialism. However, what it is for something to be socially constructed and what the point is to make a social constructionist claim are still very controversial. In this course, we consider ideas of different philosophers on social construction and try to answer the two questions above.

To enable students to understand different theories on social construction and gain the ability to evaluate and criticize those theories. Through the process, students will be able to propose their own views as well.
